Air passengers in Europe increase by 5.4%

The 2014 report from Airports Council International (ACI) Europe records an amazing overall 5.4% increase in passenger numbers at Europe's airports.

Across EU members the average increase was 4.9%. Within this Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal and Romania did better than average. 

Non-EU airports did significantly better with a 7.3% increase, the particular stars being Georgia, Iceland, Serbia & Turkey.

Freight traffic across Europe in 2014 increased by 3.6%, and aircraft movements up by 2.6%, the lower increase than passenger numbers being reflected by the utilisation of spare capacity.
