London's two major airports have just published their statistics for March 2015 with both showing significant increases in the numbers of passengers handled.

Heathrow airport reports its busiest ever March with a total of 5.95 million passengers, and increase of 3.4% over March 2014. Part of the increase is attributed to an earlier Easter holiday than in 2014. Larger, fuller & quieter aircraft are driving part of the growth with passengers per aircraft rising 3.2% to 151.3.  To read more from Heathrow click here.

Gatwick Airport expects to reach the milestone of handling 40 million passengers in 2016, 10 years ahead of the predictions made in the January 2013 UK Aviation Forecast.  Last month Gatwick handled 2.96 million passengers, and increase of 9.2% over March 2014.  Understandably Gatwick is using the results to bolster its case for a second runway at the Sussex terminal.
