The cost of your foreign holiday continues to rise

The TaxPayers Alliance has published its research showing that despite the recently reported negligible inflation rate, the cost of going on holiday continues to rise.

They say that high taxes on holiday items, insurance and flights have increased the cost of a holiday abroad by £62 for every British holidaymaker.

Air Passenger Duty (a tax on flying) imposed in the UK is the second highest in the developed world, and there are calls for its abolition with arguments suggesting that the increased passenger traffic would result in no net loss in revenue to the Government.
