Why you shouldn't use social media when on holiday

Many of us love keeping our friends and relatives updated with what we're doing through updates on Facebook, Twitter and other social media. Why not?

Unless you've taken sensible security precautions, your posts may be visible to other people as well including your local burglar.

Police have issued warnings to people not to tell those who do not need to know that they're away from home on their holidays to avoid thieves from taking advantage of your absence to rob your home.  They also advise asking a neighbour, friend or relative to routinely visit your property while your away to help deter the burglars.
