Dubai International Airport Claims the #1 spot

It's now official, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is now the largest airport in the world for international passenger numbers as shown by their 2014 traffic report that has just been released.

London' Heathrow Airport previously held the title, but DBX's passenger numbers increased during the year by an incredible 6.1% to a whopping 70,475,636 to overtake Heathrow.

During 2015 DBX plans further enhancements to its facilities and capacity, so it looks as though they'll hang on to the title for a while yet to come.

DBX experienced the most growth from Western Europe, followed closely by the Indian sub-continent.

Dubai International now the World's Busiest Airport

It is reported by The National that Dubai International is now the world's busiest airport, pushing London Heathrow back into second position.

The airport was at its busiest ever during the week ended 24 December, processing an incredible 638,317 passengers.

Figures published by the Airports Council International show that Dubai's growth in passenger numbers is much greater than Heathrow's so indications are that Dubai will remain as top dog for a while to come.
