Sicily is the largest island off the Italian mainland, and offers the visitor not only exquisite beauty, boundless history, but also wonderful beaches to relax.
The province of Palermo on the northern side of the island has a splendid coast with beaches and rocky expanses, and also caters for sailing and other water sports in the beautiful sea.
The centre of the city of Palermo boasts many historic buildings to visit including its cathedral that over the centuries has also served as a temple and a mosque reflecting the beliefs of previous invaders.
