Britain's Automobile Association (AA) has published the results of a survey of its members Easter motoring intentions.
As Easter is earlier than usual creating a longer gap until the summer holidays, the AA predicts a particularly busy time. Major railway engineering works over the Bank Holiday weekend are likely to add to the possible congestion and misery on the roads.
The poll shows that nearly half of the over 16,000 members questioned said that they intended to drive somewhere over the weekend with visiting friends or family being the most popular reason for their journey.
Easter Sunday is forecast to be the quietest of the 4 days with Thursday (2 April) predicted to be the busiest. Roads to the west country are expected to be particularly busy.
