Lufthansa pilots' action enters its fourth day

The Lufthansa pilots' strike continues for a fourth successive day.

Today, Saturday 21 March, it's once again the turn on Lufthansa's long haul flights to be affected.

Despite the action, the airline forecasts that up to half of its long haul services will operate today, along with up to 40% of its cargo flights.

Lufthansa Pilots' strike to continue on Friday

The strike by Lufthansa pilots originally scheduled to take place only on Wednesday & Thursday this week has now been extended to include tomorrow, Friday.

On Wednesday short and medium haul flights were affected, and today long haul.

Friday's action is again to affect short and medium haul.  

The action results from an ongoing dispute over retirement benefits.

Lufthansa pilots' strike rumbles on in 2015

The saga of strikes by pilots employed by German airline Lufthansa that cost the company 232m Euros in 2014 has now continued into 2015

Today (Wednesday) the pilots' union Vereinigung is striking affecting Lufthansa's short and medium haul routes only.

Tomorrow the action continues and will affect long haul routes only.

The airlines says that affected passengers can either rebook their flight without charge or obtain a refund.

Pilots' strike costs Air France KLM

The Air France KLM group has just posted its 2014 financial results that reflect the costs of last year's repeated pilots strikes.

The figures show the strike cost the company around 425m Euros in profit, and indicate that but for the disruption it would have achieved a significantly improved result for the year over 2013.

Despite the strike passenger numbers increased by 1.3% over the year, and the company achieved a modest reduction in costs.

Yet another Lufthansa Pilots' Strike

Believe it or not pilots at German Airline Lufthansa are going on strike for the 9th time this year.

Short and medium haul fights are affected on Monday from 11:00 until 23:00 GMT

Long haul and cargo flights will be affected on Tuesday.

The ongoing dispute is centred on the wishes of the airline to phase out its early retirement scheme. Despite recent concessions having been made by Lufthansa the Union has called yet another strike.

The airline has published an announcement & revised flight schedules for the duration of the current disruption.

End of Air France Pilots Strike

Good news - the pilot's strike at Air France was called off on Sunday.

Air France state that it is likely to take 2 - 3 days for their normal schedules to resume due to the need to ensure that flight crew are in the correct locations, and that mandatory aircraft safety checks are completed.  

They say that flights already notified as cancelled for today, Monday 29th, will remain cancelled, and that last minute changes and disruptions are still likely in the short term.

Hopes that Air France Pilots strike may end

Good news! There appears to be some progress in the 10 day dispute between the airline Air France and its pilots.  According to reports up to half of scheduled flights have been affected

In a press release on the Air France website, the airline has set out a new proposal to the striking pilots to attempt to resolve the dispute.

Let's hope that all involved are able to agree and that things can quickly return to normal.
