How much is your luggage worth?
How much is your luggage worth?
An interesting question! At Luggage UK we can obviously tell you how much a replacement suitcase or bag will cost you, but what about the contents?
First of all whenever collecting your checked in bags from the carousel you must always closely inspect it for any damage that has occurred since you checked it in. If the baggage handlers have struck you must claim straight away against your airline, ideally before you leave the terminal. The airlines are well organised to process claims for damaged luggage, and you'll probably fins a desk somewhere close at hand. The warranty provided with your case will not cover accidental damage including damage caused by the baggage handlers.
Even if you have one of the more expensive suitcases, it is almost certain that the value of your clothing and other belongings will greatly exceed that of your luggage.
In the unhappy event that your checked in case s lost, you can avoid total disaster by packing some overnight essentials in your cabin bags. Always have a reasonable idea of what you have packed for check in, and it's well worth itemising any valuables including serial numbers if you can. Also worth checking that your travel insurance gives you adequate cover should the worst happen.
If you luggage or its contents are lost or damaged make sure that you tell your carrier straight away and ensure that you record who you have told and when. If your loss is likely to be covered by insurance, let the company know just as soon as possible.
We sincerely hope that you manage to avoid any problems when travelling, but a little preparation beforehand can make the problem a bit more manageable.
