Lufthansa Pilots' Strike to continue?

The disruption caused by this week's Lufthansa pilots' strike looks set to continue.

Lufthansa's attempts to get their pilots to call off their strike by legal means failed on Tuesday, when a court ruled that there were no ground to declare the strike illegal.

The dispute started by a decision by the company to raise the pilots' retirement age from 55 to 60, a move opposed by the VC union.

During the strike action earlier this week around 200,000 passengers and about 1,500 short and medium haul flights were affected.

With the recent strike by Air France Pilots reportedly costing the company about 500m Euros, Lufthansa must obviously be hoping that a quick solution can be found.
