US Carrier Delta Airlines has announced that it is replacing part of its aging Boeing fleet with new Airbus aircraft.
Starting in 2017 25 Airbus A350-900 aircraft powered by Rolls Royce Trent XWB engines will replace Delta's Boeing 747, and in 2019 Airbus A330-900 planes will replace Boeing 76-300s.
Nat Pieper, Delta's VP - Fleet Strategy & Transactions said "Delta always approaches fleet decisions with a balance of economic efficiency, customer experience enhancements, network integration and total cost of ownership,"
Delta was named 2014 Airline of the Year by Air Transport World magazine, and carries around 165 million customers a year.
