Ryanair's amazing increase in profits last year!

'Europe's favourite airline' Ryanair has reported tremendous full year profits to 31 March 2015.

Proving that treating your customers better produces good returns, the 'Always Getting Better' program is credited with driving the increase.

Passenger numbers increased by 11% to 90.6m over the previous year, and improved load factors resulted in profits after tax leaping 66% to 867m Euros.

Virgin Atlantic Airways returns to profit for 2014

Virgin Atlantic has delivered on its plan to return to profitability within 2 years from February 2013.

During the year to 31 December 2014 it made a profit of £14.4 million against a loss for the previous year of £51 million - an improvement of £65.4 million.

For a third consecutive year the airline reports that its passenger satisfaction scores have increased showing an 11% improvement since 2012.  On time performance remains high with 85.5% of flights leaving within 15 minutes of their scheduled times.

Aer Lingus produces good 2014 results

Aer Lingus, the Irish National Airline has announced improved results for 2014 over 2013.

Revenues increased by an impressive 9.2% year on year to give a 17.8% increase in operating profit before exceptional items.

Total passenger numbers carried by the airline and including Aer Lingus Regional passed 11 million for the first time.

Revenue er passenger increased by 1.5%, and its cargo revenue by 6.2%.

The Company's Board states that it is willing to accept the terms of the offer made for the business by British Airways owner IAG.

Impressive results from easyJet

Low cost airline easyJet reports that its profits before tax for the year to 30 September 2014 have increased by a magnificent 21.5% over the corresponding results for 2013

Impressively behind the headline figures are the following important improvements:


  • revenue per seat increased by 1.2% on a reported basis
  • cost per seat fell by 1.2% on a reported basis
  • seats flown grew by 5.1% to 71.5 million
  • load factors increased by 1.35 to 90.6%
  • passenger number rose by 6.6% to 64.8 million

RyanAir reports increased profits

No frills carrier RyanAir has announced a 32% increase in its half-year profits to give a whopping 795m Euros.

The result was achived through increasing passenger numbers by 4%, fares increasing by 5%, and overall costs being reduced by 2%.

The airlines 'Always getting Better' program is reported to be paying dividends,as well as the continued popularity among travellers for using the low cost carriers

British Airways reports strong 3rd quarter results

The company that owns British Airways as well as Iberia and Vueling, has reported third quarter operating profits up 210m Euros (30%) compared to the corresponding quarter of 2013 before exceptional items.

International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) said that performance was bolstered by increased passenger capacity as well as reduced fuel costs achieved through the introduction of newer and more efficient aircraft to the fleet.

BA was responsible for the bulk of the profit growth, but both Iberia and Vueling have shown significant growth.
