What's the largest Carry On Bag that you take take in the Cabin with you?

Buy Low price easyJet Cabin Suitcase

As you may be aware these days there is not a 'one size fits all' as far as Carry On Cabin Luggage is concerned.

While the IATA maximum has remained unchanged at 56x45x25cm for a while, many airlines, particularly the Budget Carriers have adopted smaller maximum sizes for the bag that you're allowed to take on board with you.

easyJet for the majority of 2015 had elected to use a size smaller than IATA, but for the last few months they have re-adopted the 46x45x25cm maximum size for their Cabin Bags. However in increasing the maximum size easyJet no longer guarantee that your Carry On Bag will travel with you in the cabin if the flight is particularly busy.

By contrast Low Cost Airline Ryanair works with a maximum size for Cabin Luggage of
55x40x20cm, much smaller than easyJet and many scheduled carriers such as British Airways.

It pays to be alert if you're using more than one airline for your trip - always plan your Cabin Baggage on the basis of the smallest maximum size.   Luggage UK have produced a helpful Guide to Carry on Cabin Luggage with links to the websites of the major airlines to help you identify your Cabin Luggage requirements.  Order from us before 3pm on a weekday and as well as enjoying our Low Prices, deliveries are made next working day to most UK destinations without any extra charge.

Advice on choosing your Cabin Luggage

Buy Low price Lightweight Suitcase

When you're taking a short haul flight the chances are that you'll be able to fit what you need to take with you into a carry on Cabin Bag or Suitcase.

Advice on choosing your Cabin Luggage from Luggage UK

Apart from the convenience of not having to wait in Baggage Reclaim, you will often find you'll be able to save money by not checking in a Suitcase particularly if you're flying with one of the Budget Airlines.

Samsonite S'Cure Cabin Spinner from Luggage UK

What size Cabin Case should you buy?  Well all Cabin Luggage is normally within IATA's current maximum size of 56x45x25cm. However please beware that some airlines operate lower limits and you may find that you have to check in your case if it's oversize.  Even if you Bag is within the maximum dimensions you may be asked to check your bag into the hold if your flight is very busy and space in the overhead lockers is limited.

When setting maximum dimensions, airlines do not do so by referring to the sizes of suitcase in the marketplace. For example when easyJet imposed a maximum lower than the IATA size a couple of years ago you could count on one hand the number of Cabin Suitcases we knew about that met the requirement - it took up to a year for a good selection within the size to be available for sale.

Don't expect to necessarily find a Cabin Bag where all three dimensions agree with an airlines maximum size - in most instances it will be a best choice selection.

EasyJet increases the maximum size of carry on luggage

Without making any formal announcement, budget airline easyJet have increased the maximum size of cabin luggage that you can take aboard their flights.

Some tips when buying cabin luggage

Buying cabin luggage for your next trip?

If you use any of the budget airlines it's well worth checking their websites to establish if they operate with lower size limits than the standard IATA cabin size of 56x45x25cm.

Many, including easyJet, work with smaller sizes, and should you arrive at the airport with a bigger case, you may well find that you have to pay to check it in.

Generally, although there are exceptions, the major scheduled carriers work to the IATA sizing.

Do beware though if you're getting internal flights with other airlines when you arrive - they may work with different size limits from your first carrier, and increasingly US airlines are joining in the march to lower cabin sizes.

Looking for EasyJet size cabin bags?

Buy EasyJet size cabin luggage

With more and more of us choosing to travel with the budget airlines, the luggage manufacturers have finally caught up with Easy Jet's surprise announcement in July 2013 that they were reducing the maximum size for carry on cabin luggage.

Initially there were only 1 or 2 cases on the market that complied with the new maximum size - perhaps this was a ploy by the company to maximise their revenues?

Over the next year manufacturers' have realised the potential of introducing a new cabin size, and most new ranges launched include a case whose dimensions fall within the Easy jet limits.

How long will it be before another airline reduces them further? Interesting?
